I truly believe SEJ totally helped me excel as both a coxswain, teammate, and person. I had such a great time and learned so much. I still use things I learned today and will continue to use them next year at Cal.
~'07 Kathryn Meister, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, CA (University of California)

I just wanted to thank you for everything you did at camp. Camp was a great opportunity to row a highly competitive level and have exposure to college coaches. From feedback on the water and video, to weight/ core training on land, I feel my rowing improved significantly. The camp was challenging and a lot of work, but in the long-run the result was well worth it. The experience of competing at Club Nationals is something that I will never forget. Both years I learned so much and I really appreciate all the work that you did.
~'07/'08 Jackie Riedel
, Shrewsbury HS, Shrewsbury, MA (University of Indiana)

Thank you for the amazing experience I had at Southeast Juniors. The camp itself was extremely difficult but I feel as if all the hard work.. paid off at Club Nationals. My rowing has changed dramatically over the last three weeks; my technique and power has improved immensely... making me not only a stronger rower but a stronger person. I truly appreciate all of the time and effort you put into this camp and I wanted to let you know the affect it has had on my rowing. Also, your wife did an amazing job on the food at nationals and I know all of the rowers loved it.
~'07  Elle Murray H.B. Plant HS, Tampa FL

I just wanted to say thank you again for having the SEJ camp. It was great both years. I was just reminded to write when I got the new issue of US Rowing and saw our boats mentioned for Nationals. It was such an amazing feeling so see how our boats finished so well this year. I am still in awe about the fact that I have a medal from a National Competition. Thank you for making that possible
~ '05/'06 Amber Zapatka, Lowell HS, Lowell MA (USNA)

Just wanted to thank you for the awesome time I had this past summer at Southeast Junior Dev. Camp. I just wanted to tell you that I pulled a 7:23.4 today, a PR (7:33.7)
~ '06 Megan Kelly Hillsborough HS, Tampa FL (Princeton)

The morning I got home from the SE Dev. camp, I pulled a 2K to see how much I had improved. It turns out I dropped almost ten seconds - finally breaking 7:30! I notified a bunch of college coaches about this and I got very highly recruited. I'm going to row at UCLA next year, and I know that I would probably be going to some really obscure college if SE Dev. camp didn't help me get so much faster. Thanks again,
~ '05 Christine Fiacco St. Andrews RC. Atlanta, GA (UCLA)

Thank you for your interest in the Southeast Juniors!

The Southeast Junior Rowing Development Camp (SEJ) is a pre-elite level development camp, located at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. SEJ is for athletes that might have aged out or are just under the requirements of the USRowing Jr. Development system. SEJ is centered on junior** rowers and coxswains with over 1 year rowing experience, that meet the selection criteria.

SEJ Camp Directors Allen Eubanks and Greg Maynard have developed an unforgettable three-week intense training program for dedicated athletes that are looking for the next level of rowing conditioning and development. SEJ is specifically designed to be a challenging and rewarding experience to harness the athlete's rowing potential and to foster a lifetime love for the sport of rowing.

sejsej

Athletes will be immersed into a rigorous, intensive and competitive two weeks training program under the guidance of the region's top coaches. Athletes will experience up to four training and technical sessions per day focused on, weight training and core strength techniques as well as race strategy on the ergometer and on the water. SEJ has been called a "Race Camp" due to our focus on two main areas blade work and power application to make you a better racer. The camp takes into count that each of the athletes home programs uses different technique. SEJ does not try to change your stroke to a unique style, instead opting for a "vanilla style" that all athletes can learn quickly to compete within two weeks. The final week of camp has SEJ traveling to compete in the USRowing National Club Championship Regatta and attend the USRowing College Fair held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

sejsej

The experience of SEJ is more than just rowing. SEJ wants to be the camp where you make friends that you can share your experience with and see at regatta around the country. The camp travels to Chattanooga for movies, fireworks, and other camp outings around the city.

Completion of application does not guarantee an invitation. SEJ has set very modest 2K time standards for admission. (Males U19-6:55, U16-7:15, Females U19-7:50, U16-8:00)
The coaches feel that this ensures that the athletes that apply for our camp are serious about improving their rowing ability. In the event the applicant meets the selection criteria to be considered for the camp. You will receive e-mail verification from the staff notifying to whether or not you have been invited to participate in the camp by the May 1st deadline.

sejsej

If you are close to the selection criteria, apply and if their is space available you may be invited after the deadline. Remember to keep updating the camp coaches of your progress. Once you have been accepted to the camp, you will need to download and submit the camp information, medical documents, waiver (from the camp menu on the right side of the page) and non-refundable deposit. The additional forms need to be completed prior to your arrival in Chattanooga. Your account will need to be paid in full before you can sign-in your camper.
